Development of Cradock Square in Rosebank completed
Over the past few years, the Rosebank area in Johannesburg has established itself as a hot and happening business hub. The area is only a few kilometres from Sandton, offers a wide selection of office space and is also home to a Gautrain station.
The recent completion of Cradock Square by Old Mutual Property, a project of R180 million, will only add to the area's allure. Previously known as Mutual Square, the development is located in the heart of Rosebank's business hub and is anchored by a new flagship Game store with street access at both levels from Oxford Road Gautrain, the bus rapid transport system (BRT) terminals and also Cradock Street Square.
The total gross lettable area is 10 700 m² of which the Game store will occupy around 6 000 m². Other retail will occupy approximately 250 m² while office space of 4 470 m² will also be available over three levels. According to a statement that was released earlier this month, office space for rent is still available.
“Green building principles have been incorporated into the building including natural ventilation, thermal insulation, daylight for reduced internal lighting and water conservation. It encompasses a central atrium with trees and a garden providing good outside perspective for the offices,” Old Mutual notes.
Old Mutual has invested around R1 billion in the Zone and Cradock Square to date and are also contemplating further investment.
According to Brent Wiltshire, development executive of Old Mutual Property, the group is delighted to have partnered with Game, a Massmart store, in their flagship development in the area. “The opening of Cradock Square is yet another milestone in boosting Rosebank's status as a prime Johannesburg retail and mixed use location,” he adds.
